Ireland honoured Anthony Foley before Ireland’s clash with New Zealand.
Ireland faced down the haka and simultaneously paid tribute to the late Anthony Foley tonight, by forming a figure of eight before kick off.
Ireland are drawing on the emotion of the symbolic moment, scoring three tries in a pulsating first half. A touchdown resulting from a line out drive was quickly followed by further tries from CJ Stander and Conor Murray.
Indeed, the Irish scrum half is dominating proceedings, pointing the Irish pack in the direction of battle and keeping the All Blacks guessing by changing the direction of attack, breaking from the base and launching a series of box kicks.
As a result, Ireland lead 25-8 at half time, and could be on the verge of history in Chicago. However, Ireland will no doubt be aware of the fact that New Zealand tend to dominate their opponents in the second half.
Something Joe Schmidt seems to have planned for given the players sitting on the bench.
