Balance – Introducing My Friend Des

Balance – Introducing My Friend Des

What can I say about Des?

He’s a very balanced guy. And handsome. Not in a manufactured way. More like in a ‘he-always-looks-well’ kind of way.

Des takes care of himself.

Not in a ‘I-check-myself-in-the-mirror-regularly-to-make-sure-I’m-looking-good’ kind of way. More like, Des is a fan of sticking to the basics that he knows keeps him feeling good.

Diet:

Like for example, Des eats well.

Not in a ‘I-have-to-count-calories-and-everything-has-to-be-accounted-for’ kind of way. More like, he knows what works for him diet-wise.

And he stays true to that.

By and large.

Des is not a slave to discipline.

Exercise:

Des is active.

Not in a ‘I-need-my-fitbit-or-<insert relevant app here>-to-track-everything’ kind of a way. More like, Des has a good sense of what exercise he needs to feel good each week.

And he stays true to that.

By and large.

Des is not a slave to discipline.

Sleep:

And like for example, Des is good man for his sleep. Not in a ‘it’s-10.28pm-I-need-to-be-in-bed-in-two minutes-or-the-sky-will-fall-down’ kind of a way. More like, Des goes to bed at a reasonable hour. He knows that if he gets seven hours sleep (minimum) he wakes up feeling decent.

And so he stays true that.

By and large.

Des is not a slave to discipline.

I like Des.

If I had to choose three words to sum him up, I would say Diet, Exercise and Sleep. They keep him balanced. And looking good. In that ‘he-always-looks-good’ kind of a way.

*

Des is a good friend of mine. The friendship is simple. If I look after Des, Des looks after me.

If I don’t look after Des, he doesn’t have my back in the same way.

Sometimes I fall down because of this. Literally and metaphorically.

I don’t blame Des for that. How could I blame Des for anything?

*

I meant to ask you, are you friends with Des?

If not, you should. Trust me.

Let me know if you want an introduction.
